The Alice Springs Folk Club (or CAFS – Central Australian Folk Society) has been around for over 40 years and has close linkages to the Top End Folk Club. CAFS organises the Top Half festival in “odd” years, the next being in 2015.
Music NT exists to support the growth and development of original contemporary music in the Northern Territory. MusicNT Inc. is the non-profit member based music organisation for the Northern Territory representing, developing and servicing the Territory’s original music industry. Offices exist in Darwin and Alice Springs.
Folk Alliance Australia (FAA) is the peak body representing performing folk arts in Australia. FAA represent Australian festivals, events, performers and community groups in nurturing, preserving and developing Australia’s diverse folk arts; the cultural bonds which give our community its identity and cohesion.
The Top End Folk Club obtains public liability insurance through membership of FAA.
This is the site for the National Folk Festival, which is run every year over the Easter Weekend in Canberra. The 2020 Festival was cancelled due to the Covid 19 pandemic and whether there will be a Festival in 2021 is yet to be determined.
Arts NT provides a wide range of support services to arts in the Territory, including a range of grants available to festivals and other events.
